(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)James Arthur Walker of Joplin, Missouri, received his wings and went to be with the Lord early Monday morning, December 16, 2024.
He was born on May 26, 1937, to Gat and Elma (Lemler) Walker.
He served two years in the Army at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Everyone knows him as Art. He was a skilled printer and dedicated hard worker and a great joker. His passion was to live life to the fullest, to be a good person, and to respect all around him.
He was dedicated to his family and friends. Art loved to take long hikes, take trips, to explore, and make new memories. Art cherished spending time with his family and long-time companion, Shirley Boone, and her family.
Art was preceded in death by his father and mother, eight brothers and two sisters.
He leaves behind his brother John Walker of Ozark, Missouri, two sisters: Vergie Abney of Ozark, Missouri, and Dixie Ramsey of Republic, Missouri. He is also survived by two children: Kenneth Walker of Ozark, Missouri, and Sandra Walker of McKinney, Texas, his long-time companion Shirley Boone of Joplin, Missouri, Shirley’s son Dwaine Boone of Joplin, and Shirley’s daughter April Boone and wife Crissy of Joplin, his grandchildren Elijah Walker, Caleb Walker, Kaitlin Babb, Nicholas Walker, Dustin Boone, William Boone, Brett Boone, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who all will remember him fondly.

Art worked at Vickers of Joplin for six years, Eagle Picher for 13 years, and Bagcraft of Joplin, MO/Baxter Springs, KS for over 20 years.
A celebration of life will be held later in spring of 2025.
