(From Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home)Verna Maxine Hodson, 89, Joplin, MO, passed away December 14, 2024 at the Seneca House Nursing Home after a long illness.
Verna Maxine Curtis was born April 20, 1935 in Houston, TX the daughter of Cecil Hartley and Opal Maxine (Duncan) Curtis. Verna formerly worked for La-Z-Boy Midwest as a seamstress. She loved music and playing Scrabble and Yahtzee. She especially loved winning at board games and did so at all costs. Verna also enjoyed working cross word puzzles. She loved her family. Verna cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended Burkhart Church of Christ.
Verna Maxine Curtis married Frank Elbert Hodson and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Debbie Scott, siblings, Pearl Durocher, Viola Sherman, J.W. Curtis, Cecil Hartley Curtis Jr., Allene Anderson and Linda Marilynn; grandsons Frankie Thrasher and Michael Hodson; one great grandson, Justin Dyson and 4 infant great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Kenny Hodson, Steve Hodson and wife Jennifer, Delaina Pridemore and husband Dale, Jeff Hodson, Rob Hodson and wife Kayla and Deandra Herring; son-in-law Larry Scott; siblings, Katie Johnson, Glenda Black and Bill Curtis; one sister-in-law Janet Curtis; 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 6 to 7pm, Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home. Following the visitation the body will be taken for cremation.
