(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Marjorie Luellen Welton, 96, of Carthage, Missouri, entered this world on December 30, 1927, to the parents, Herbert Havens and Bina West Havens in Butler, Missouri. She was called to her heavenly home on December 18, 2024, at the home of her daughters’, Mary Thorn, where she had been living for the las two and a half years.
She married Max Welton on February 6, 1949, in Bentonville, Arkansas. Max passed away on January 2, 2009. Margie was a lifelong resident of Carthage. She was employed for many years as a bank teller for Central National Bank, later became United Missouri Bank.
She loved bowling and was in bowling leagues for many years. She enjoyed her trips to state bowling tournaments, She and her husband Max loved to fish, hunt, and camp together.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband Max after 59 years of marriage; her parents, Herb and Bina Weet Havens; a brother, Watler Havens; and a sister Dorothy VanGilder.
She is survived by her daughter Mary (Elmer) Thorn; granddaughters, Kimberly Klok of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Marcie Carter (Mike) of Joplin; and grandson Dustin Thorn (Joe Brunhuber) of Phoenix, Arizona; and a sister Vonna Ralston of Carthage; nine great grandchildren, Beau (Allegra) Lewis, Kiefer (Kimber) Lewis, Sam (Stephanie) Thorn, Alexis (Justin) Slates, Austin (Toni) Fullerton, David Sexton, Evan Sexton, Marcella Christy, and Isabella Christy; and 10 great-great grandchildren, Trinity, Elizabeth, Lillian, Emma, Brantley, Braxton, Briggs, Zaedyn, Aurora, and Jasper.
Margie was a member of First Methodist Church in Carthage.
There will be a funeral service for Margie at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. The visitation will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home. The burial will be immediately after the service at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
