(From Lockwood Funeral Chapel)Dorthy A. (Schilling) Davis, of Lockwood, MO, was set free from the bonds of Alzheimer’s on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the age of 95 years and 10 months.
She was a lifetime Dade County resident. Dorthy was born to Adolph and Freda (Korff) Schilling near Lockwood, MO on February 15, 1929. She graduated from Lockwood High School in 1947 and married Ivan Davis in September of that year. They shared 65 years and 6 months of marriage. Together they raised three children, Tom, Darlene, and Vivian. All survive along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Dorthy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and practiced her faith in word and deed. She had a giving heart and helped anyone in need.
During her lifetime, she had been a farmer, caterer, seamstress, school cook, and Rader’s store clerk. But, she is most famous as the “Cake Lady” as she baked many cakes for weddings, birthdays, and confirmations for many in the area.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Nora Ruth Easson; her husband, Ivan Davis; plus many more friends and relatives that were special to her.
Dorthy will be laid to rest next to Ivan at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Meinert. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Graveside service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Meinert.
