Betty Lorimer

(From Parker Mortuary)

Betty Lou Lorimer, age 85, of Joplin, MO, entered her heavenly home on Thursday, December 12, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born November 20, 1939, in Grand Junction, CO, to the late Elmer and Goldia (McBride) Maxwell. She was raised in the Grand Junction area for a few years before moving to NE, Oklahoma, where she spent some of her childhood years.

After some time in Oklahoma, she moved back to Grand Junction. While in High School, she met Alvin Lorimer and together they entered into holy matrimony on December 17, 1957. They were blessed with three children, Alvin Douglas, Cherie, and Brenda, along with nearly 68 years of marriage before his passing on Augst 23, 2024. She spent most of her days raising the children and teaching them many important life lessons.

Betty and Alvin were each other’s best friends and made sure to show their children what a loving and Godly marriage should look like. They loved going on fishing trips, hunting for arrowheads, visiting museums, learning the different cultures while in different cities, and singing along while Alvin played the guitar. Later on, Betty enjoyed spending her time with her grandbabies, whether that be singing and making up songs, playing games, or teaching them about our savior Jesus Christ. She was the definition of a perfect grandma.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by two siblings, Loretta Gamboe and Doug Maxwell.

Betty is survived by her three children, Alvin Douglas Lorimer, Cherie Hunt and husband, Ron, and Brenda Gresham and husband, Max; nine grandchildren, John Hurt, Marisa Motz, Joshua Hurt, Anna Zepedk, Elysa Erkman, Gary Brian Gresham, Stefanie Chastain, Kristi Carouth, and Matthew Lorimer; numerous great-grandbabies; and one sister, Nadine Clark.

Funeral services are pending.
