(From Parker Mortuary)Melissa Sue Hylton, age 51, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin.
Melissa was born on December 11, 1972 in Joplin, to the union of Jerry and Virginia (Pequignot) Hylton. She was a lifetime resident of the Joplin area and graduated from Joplin High School in 1991. She worked in the manufacturing industry at Celltron for 4 years before leaving due to her illness. She loved spending time with her daughter, Brittany, whether that was going on Silver Dollar City trips, bowling, or visiting the many different activities Branson had to offer. Melissa was the kindest, most caring, and honest person you would have ever met.
Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Dean Hylton.
Melissa is survived by her mother, Virginia “Jenny” Hylton; daughter, Brittany Hylton; brother, Jerry Wayne Hylton and wife, Bobbi; one niece, Kim Allen and husband, Darren; one nephew, Josh Hylton and wife, Makayla; three great-nieces, Reagen Allen, Gracie Allen and Hadley Hylton; and two great-nephews, Landry Hylton and Aiden Allen.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary with Pastor Mike Kelso officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Jerry Hylton, Josh Hylton, Mike Kelso, Darren Allen, Garry Hylton, and Bryan Hylton serving as pallbearers.
Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
