Carl Henning

Carl Wayne Henning, Sr., age 68, of Joplin, MO, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Aspire Senior Living in Joplin surrounded by his family.

Carl was born on September 11, 1957 in Kansas City, MO, to the union of Willis and Genevieve (Kienzle) Henning. He was a 1976 graduate of Parkwood High School and went on to attend college for a short period before entering the workforce. Carl worked as an Inventory Controller at Americold Logistics in Carthage for over two decades, from 1999 until his retirement in 2025. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Smith on August 20, 1982 at Joplin First Church of the Nazerene.

Together they were blessed with 43 years of marriage before his passing. He enjoyed the simple things in life like laughter, Pepsi, cracking jokes, and spending time with his grandchildren and granddogs. Carl spent many hours tinkering on different projects and collecting cans in his spare time. He was the best at storytelling and once he had you locked in, you were stuck for hours. He loved planting different flowers and watching as they bloomed in the spring. Carl will be remembered as a man of many talents and interest, but above all, he will be remembered for his kind heart. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Henning.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Henning; two sons, Carl Henning Jr. (Jennifer) and Brandon Henning (Angela); five grandchildren, Cory Myers (Jessica), Trace Myers (Tina), Alaina Henning, Scarlett Henning and Phoenix Henning; four great-grandchildren, Bryson, Lola, Easton and Dallas; sister, Mary Bell and a host of extended brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with pastor David Durall officiating. Interment to follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Carl Henning, Jr., Brandon Henning, Cory Myers, Trace Myers, Dane Henning and Butch Smith serving as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
