(From White Funeral Home)Emelie Marie Johnson, age 89, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Cox South in Springfield.
Emelie was born on May 1, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Pierre and Ruth (MacDonald) Bret. On June 3, 1956, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leon Johnson, in Prairie Village, Kansas. He preceded her in death.
Emelie was a woman of quiet strength and generous spirit. She devoted much of her time to serving others, volunteering faithfully at the Cassville Food Pantry, where her kindness and willingness to help made a meaningful difference in the lives of many. She found great joy in quilting and cross-stitching, creating beautiful handmade pieces that will be treasured by family and friends for years to come. Her hands were rarely still, and her heart was always full when she was caring for others.
Emelie will be remembered for her gentle nature, her servant’s heart, and the warmth she brought into every room she entered. Her legacy of compassion and dedication to her community will not be forgotten.
Emelie is survived by three sons, Bret Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri, Michael Johnson of Independence, Missouri, and Keith Johnson of Parkville, Missouri; three daughters, Kathy Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri, Jody Johnson of Cassville, Missouri, and Jennifer Johnson of Cassville, Missouri; several grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon, one son Kenneth, and her parents.
A mass service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Cassville with Father William Hodgson officiating, a visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at White Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Pulaskifield, Missouri.
Memorials may be made to the Cassville Food Pantry and entrusted to White Funeral Home and Crematory.
