Dorothy Harper

Dorothy Harper, 90, passed away on October 7, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. 

Dorothy was born on October 3, 1925 in Webb City, Missouri to Earl Wynne and Mary Emma Horine. Dorothy had been a lifelong resident of Jasper County. She was a cashier at Rinehart's IGA, C and L Foods, and Ramey’s for approximately 40 years. She was also a former member of the Eastern Star Alba Chapter and Square Dance. 

She was united in marriage to Paul Harper Senior, on October 15, 1944 in Columbus, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2010. Dorothy is survived by one son Junior Harper and wife Clara of Carthage, Missouri, two daughters, Linda Hoofnagle and husband Gary of Carthage, Missouri and Jeannie Wells of Carthage, Missouri, two grandsons Chad and Blake, two granddaughters Chally and Whitney, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Bob, Bus, and Jim, two sisters Betty and Mary, and one son-in-law Weldon Wells. A special thank you to Mercy Hospital and Staff for the excellent care. 

Services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Missouri. Contributions can be to Mercy Hospice or the charity of your choice in Dorothy’s memory in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
