Joyce A. Gullett, age 60, Joplin, passed away at 8:02 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, after a short illness.
Joyce was born September 25, 1955 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania to the late William Boehmler and Ruth Walton Boehmler and had lived in Joplin the past 25 years.
On May 26, 1979 Joyce married Chester N. Gullett in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
Joyce studied accounting at the McCann School of Business and Technology in Hazleton. She worked as an accountant at Hardy, Wrestler and Associates for the past 25 years.
Family meant everything to Joyce. Whether she was cooking for their weekly Sunday dinners; taking camping trips to Stockton Lake; playing the piano or just spending time watching grandchildren's activities, she was happy doing all of it. Joyce was a proud supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, but will be the first to tell you that it wasn't until Joe Montana became quarterback. She was also a faithful member of Christ's Community United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Chet, of the home; two sons, Jason Gullett and his wife, Ashley, Joplin, Craig Gullett and his wife, Laura, Joplin; grandchildren, Tyler, Bryson, Josiah, Truman, Parker; one brother, Richard Boehmler and his wife, Lynn, Hazleton, Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Arlita Gullett, Joplin, Juanita Taylor, Carl Junction; two brothers-in-law, Duane Gullett, Lawndale, California, Clay Gullett, Apple Valley, California; and several extended family members and many friends.
Services are planned for Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Chris Sloan will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, in care of Parker Mortuary.
