Herbert W. Erwin, 85, Carthage, MO, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at his home. Herbert W. Erwin was born November 5, 1929, in Carthage, MO to the late Herbert Ray Erwin and Florida (McDonald) Erwin. He was a graduate of Carthage Senior High School. He married Bonnie Vaughn on September 19, 1947, she preceded him in death. He worked at Carthage Marble, retired from Flex-O-Lators, and later from Southwest Missouri Bank. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Carthage, MO, and also a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include two sons; Ron (wife Carolyn) Erwin, Carthage, MO, and Steve (wife Brenda) Erwin, Springfield, MO; one daughter; Tracy (husband Carroll) Asbell, Carthage, MO; one sister; Alma Jean Harper, Carthage, MO; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one daughter; Linda Hillebrenner; three sisters; Edith Dayringer, Helen Glass, and Treva Swingle; and one brother; Edgar Lyle “Si” Erwin.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, October 19, 2015 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Minister Tom Wright will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Compassus in care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
