Sherry “Jane” Waynick, 66, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the Washington County Hospital, Washington, Kansas after a three year battle with lung cancer.
A graveside service will be held on November 7, 2015, 11 AM in the Park Cemetery in Carthage, MO.
Jane was born June 2, 1949, in Carthage, MO, daughter of William “Richard” Waynick and Mary Perry, Waynick, Scheetz. She attended Carterville Elementary in Carterville, MO and graduated in 1967 from Nebraska City, NE High School. Jane retired September 30, 2015, from the theater custodial department of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE. During the eight years Jane was employed at the University, she developed meaningful friendships with co-workers and students.
Jane was an avid University of Nebraska football fan and enjoyed watching the games. She loved animals and throughout the years fed many stray cats as well as having several pets of her own. Jane’s greatest joy was family. Over the years she made several trips to MO to visit family and to enjoy a show in Branson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents Roy and Sally Waynick and Lew and Bertha Perry; brother William “Bill” Waynick Jr.; step-father Herald Scheetz; four uncles; three aunts; and four cousins.
Survived by sister-in-law Dianna Waynick, Springfield, MO; nephews and spouses Mark and Jaye Waynick Ozark, MO, David and Cathy Waynick Dardenne Prairie, MO; great niece Payton Waynick Kansas City MO; great nephews Brandon and Nolan Waynick Dardenne Prairie, MO; aunt Rosalie Perry Joplin, MO; several cousins; step uncle and aunt Ernie and Zetta Scheetz and their family. Jane’s family would like to give special thanks to Ernie and Zetta for the compassion and care they gave Jane throughout the years and in her time of need.
