Loyd Isbell

Loyd Isbell, 95, of Carthage passed away on October 15, 2015 in Lamar, Missouri.

Born on October 25, 1919 in Picher, Oklahoma to William Isbell and Edna Kirk. Loyd had been a lifetime Carthage area resident. Loyd worked at Hercules for 37 years and as the Crossing Guard at Columbian School in Carthage for 20 years. Loyd served in the United States Army and was stationed in the Pacific during World War II. He received 4 bronze stars and 2 purple hearts. 

Loyd was united in marriage to Wanda Gregory in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on August 9, 1952. She preceded him in death. Loyd is survived by two sons, Ron Gregory and wife Karen of Altus, Oklahoma, and Chris Isbell of Carthage Missouri, one daughter Harriette Nichols and husband Taylor of Columbus, Kansas, one daughter in law Kay Gregory of Richland, Washington, and 8 grandchildren. Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda Isbell, two sons Brad Isbell and Barry Gregory, one grandson, one granddaughter, and two brothers John Isbell and Floyd Isbell. 

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Park Cemetery. An Open Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19, 2015. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
