Robert E. Mattox I, age 71 of Joplin, Mo., passed away at his home on Tuesday October 6, 2015.
Robert was born on March 5, 1944 in Salinas, Ca., the son of Mose and Lillian (Shaw) Mattox. He graduated from Turlock High School in Turlock, Ca. and worked as an independent contractor for many years before retiring in 2009. Robert was a member of the Oasis Worship Center.
He married Rebecca Ray on September 9, 1969, she survives. Additional survivors include one son; Mike Mattox of Turlock, Ca., two daughters; Sherene Parra and husband Mark of Hilo, Hi., Heather Finney and husband Steve of Joplin, one brother; Randy Mattox, two sisters; Marilyn Rogers and Barbara Davis, and ten grandchildren; Hayden Mattox, Trevor Mattox, Mary Heath, Megan Mattox, Kameron Parra, Peyton Parra, Shelby Finney, Breeana Finney, Madelyn Finney and Victoria Finney. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Mattox, and by a son, Robert Mattox II.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Racine Christian Church. Burial will follow at Burkhart Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during a time of visitation on Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m.
