Helen Wilson

Helen May Wilson, age 93, formerly of Neosho, Missouri, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Living Rose Assisted Living Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Helen was born April 8, 1922 in Joplin, to the late William Longacre, Sr. and Mable V. Butler Longacre. She worked for the phone company in both California and Missouri. While in California, she worked for Douglas Aircraft during WWII. After moving back to Missouri, she owned and operated Wilson's Food Market in Joplin. In retirement, her and William operated an independent poultry farm near Neosho, Missouri. Also in retirement, she was the oldest student to ever attend Crowder College in Neosho.

Helen married William Wilson, Jr. on September 9, 1949 in Joplin, he preceded her in death on April 6, 2002.

Additional survivors include siblings, Valerie Wasson and husband, Mike of Wentzville, Missouri. Nancy Cornell and husband, Joe of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and William A. Wilson and wife, Lynn of Neosho; grandchildren, Christy Cornell, Amy Wasson, Ben Wasson and wife, Darla, Julie Akers and husband, Mark; great grandchildren, David and Allison Gleason, Michael, McKenna and Alayna Akers, Adaly and Tucker Wasson.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, David L. Wilson; sister, Dorothy Hardwick and a brother, William Longacre, Jr..

Services are planned for Saturday, October 10th at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri with interment to follow at Osborne Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Family will receive friends on Friday, October 9th from 6-7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in care of the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
