Karen Clanton

Karen Elaine Clanton entered into rest on January 15, 2019 at her home in Stark City, following a short illness, at the age of 71.

 Karen was born March 7, 1947 in Roscoe, Nolan County, Texas, the daughter of E.W. (Edgar) and Pauline (Leonard) Allen. She graduated from Triway in 1965, Crowder College with an Associated Degree and attended Pittsburg State for one year. She raised border collies for agility, herding, search and rescue, and in 2012, had the National Champion in agility. ‘Integrity’ traveled to ten different countries and was the most successful female. She lives with her handler and owner, Melanie Wall Miller in Raleigh, North Carolina. Karen was a homemaker and she enjoyed flowers, vegetable gardening, Siamese cats, chickens, and animals. She loved the peacefulness of the trees and water. She was a member of Newtonia Baptist Church.

Karen and Jim Clanton were married on September 23, 1967 at Sweetwater Baptist Church, and he survives. Additional survivors included three children, Craig Clanton of Owasso, OK; Carey Clanton and wife, Kelly of Broken Arrow, OK; and Connie Kiefer and husband Tommy of Claremore, OK; grandchildren, McKenna Clanton; Madison Clanton; Andrew Kiefer; and Nathan Kiefer; one sister, Paula Thompson and husband, Michael of Nixa, MO; niece, Lauren Charlton; great niece, Gillian Charlton, both of Nixa; and nephew, Kevin Charlton of Kansas City, KS. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Linda Allen. 



Services will be Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10 am at the Newtonia Baptist Church; Pastor Doug Gripka will officiate. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Clymer, Richard Clymer, Rick McCully, Kevin Charlton, and Russell Hively. Anthony Clymer will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation Friday evening at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 5:30 until 7 pm. The casket will remain closed at all times. Contributions in honor of Karen may be made to the Newtonia Baptist Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
