Wilma R. Chester, age 66, Joplin, passed away at 2:59 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Freeman Hospital after a sudden illness.
Wilma was born February 23, 1952 in Salem, Missouri to the late Glen Stayton and Delta Garrison Stayton and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.
She worked in the housekeeping department at several area motels for several years. Wilma enjoyed puzzles and making latch hook projects. She loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Wilma married William C. Chester, Sr. on April 14, 1979 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2014.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rhonda Jordan and Treava Ashworth.
Survivors include her children, Candi Chester and fiancé, Thomas Turner, Joplin, Rhonda Wyrick and husband, Aron, Joplin, Billy Chester, Joplin, John Sherrick, Joplin, Jenny Tate and husband, Timmy, Joplin, Lori Ward and husband, Larry, Tulsa; siblings, Linda Carnes, Joplin, Nina Wells, Grove, Ed Stayton, Joplin; grandchildren, Ambria Wyrick, Tyrin Turner, Kiara Turner, Nickolaus Chester, Becca McDonald, Richie McDonald, Kiley McDonald, Ashley Galvan, Katrina Sherrick, Michelle Sherrick, Brittany Sherrick, Alex Sherrick, Tiara Sherrick, Delta Harris, Jacob Harris, Sabrina Briggs; and several great grandchildren.
Graveside services are planned for Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Robert Turner will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Pallbearers will be Aron Wyrick, Billy Chester, Thomas Turner, Tyrin Turner, Ray Chester and Rusty Jordan.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
