Lorraine Stebler

Lorraine Stebler, 94, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Tuesday morning, January 29, 2019 at St. Luke’s nursing home, surrounded by her loving family.

Lorraine entered this life on May 15, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of the late Andrew and Elsie (Pauley) Ray.

She was united in marriage to Gerald Lambeth and to this union Jerry and Jane were born.

After they divorced, she married James Willoughby and they had two children, Debbie and Steve. James preceded her in death in 1975. Later she was united in marriage to Harold Stebler, together they shared twenty-two years until his passing in 2001. She spent most of her life in the Sarcoxie/Reeds area, moving to Jasper when she married Harold. After his death she moved to Carthage. Lorraine retired as a Jewelry Manager for Wal-Mart. She enjoyed sewing, crochet and embroidery. She was best known for her crocheted dolls. She was a member of Jasper Baptist Church and also attended Standing at the Cross Church in Sarcoxie. She was also a member of the Jolly Neighbors Club. Lorraine also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Willoughby and Harold Stebler; son, Jerry Lambeth; two grandsons, James Willoughby and Kevin Wright; one granddaughter, Lynn Wright; brother, Lee Ray; two son-in-laws, Bill Wright and Willie Ison.




Lorraine is survived by her children, Debbie Whitledge (J.D.) of Reeds, Jane Wright of Carthage and Steve Willoughby of Reeds; step children, Paul Stebler (DeEnna) of Jasper, Carolyn Taffner (Henry), Diann Ison, Joyce Moser (Roger), and Pauletta Orahood (Mike) all of Lamar; sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one niece, Valerie Wood and one nephew, Gregory Ray; daughter-in-law, Lynn Lambeth of Salina, Kansas; sister-in-law, Velda Carr of Carthage; as well as a host of other family and friends.



Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie with Pastors Greg Gooch and J.D. Whitledge officiating. Interment will follow in Jasper Cemetery, Reeds, Missouri. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers will be Steven Willoughby, Bud Whitledge, Dustin Gardner, Nicholas Stebler, Shilo Roberts and Matt Lambeth. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Willoughby, Paul Stebler and J.D. Whitledge.
