Truman Leroy Cox, age 75, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Freeman West.
Truman was born August 21, 1943 in Joplin, son of the late William Earl Cox and Betty Louise Pickens Cox. He was one of 22 children, and grew up in Joplin attending Joplin Schools. He worked in construction most of his life as a roofer. He later worked with the Joplin Landfill, and Carver Scrap Metal. He was a member of Seventh Day Church of God.
In addition to his parents, Truman was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Gunile Chaplin Cox, who passed away on December 20, 2018, a son, Leroy Cox, and 20 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son, Rockford Cox and wife Margaret of Joplin; three daughters, Victoria Blair and husband Donald of Armstrong, Missouri, Cheryl Mathis and husband Donnie of Seneca, Missouri, and Rebecca Clash and husband Patrick of Grinnell, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, and he was "Cookie Papa" to 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Earlene Richardson of Hubert, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Denny Carver officiating.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
