Jerry Anderson

Jerry Dan Anderson, 75, of Joplin, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at his home.

Jerry was born November 25, 1944, in Wheaton, Missouri, to the union of the late Carol Gene Anderson and Ruth (Brattin) Anderson. He was a graduate of Rocky Comfort High School. Following high school, Jerry attended Southwest Baptist University where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Jerry worked as a teacher and coach for McDonald County schools for several years. Following his career in education, he began working on the dock at Tamko Building Products. Jerry worked at Tamko for 33 years before retiring in 2006.








Jerry found a passion for powerlifting while in college and competed up until 2019. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved getting to watch his grandchildren play sports. He cherished the time spent with family and the memories created with them. Jerry will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

On June 25, 1983, Jerry was united in marriage to Rita Jackson and together they shared 37 years. Rita survives at the home.

In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Michael Anderson; brother, Randy Anderson; close friend, Ronnie Nowlin.

Jerry is also survived by his daughters, Lori Woods and husband, Roger, Tiffani Anderson, Melissa Annis and husband, Will; grandchildren, Brittaney “George” Newby and husband Dakota, & Jake Annis; brother, John Anderson and wife, Patricia; close friends, Debbie Nowlin & John Matters; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life is being held Saturday, December 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Ray C. McDaniel Conference Center, 712 S. Florida, Joplin.

Cremation Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
