(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Nellie R. Madison, age 86 of Joplin, MO., passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Freeman Hospital following an illness.
Nellie was born on December 23, 1933 in Joplin, the daughter of Seth and Beulah (McCarthy) Wigent. She has been a lifetime area resident, raising her own family in her family home where she spent her days as a homemaker. Nellie enjoyed watching birds, in particular, hummingbirds.
She married Henry A. Madison in 1951, he preceded her in death on December 26, 1985.
Nellie was also preceded in death by her parents and by two sisters, Harriet Curry and Pearl Hawkins.
Nellie is survived by two daughters; Norma Bird and husband Glen of Quapaw, OK., Carolyn Garrison of Joplin, two sons; John Madison and wife Judy of Joplin, Henry Madison, Jr. and wife Vickie of Joplin, one sister; Ruby Cupp, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2020 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
