Myrna Martz

Myrna L. Martz, 84, of Neosho, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021.

Myrna was born September 3, 1936 in Joplin to the union of the late Earl and Naomi (Thompson) Shade. She was a 1954 graduate of Joplin High School. 

Myrna was an avid MSSU sports fan and a member of the Lionbackers Club. She retired from Joplin Supply, a position she held for 27 years. 








As a single mother, Myrna raised three children and didn’t miss a single game or cheer event, all while working to support her family. She was always strong and a true leader – a woman of profound faith with a heart of gold. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of Bethany Presbyterian Church.

On January 16, 1981, Myrna was united in marriage to William “Bill” Martz and he survives.

Additional survivors include her son, Rusty Shelley (MJ), of St. Charles, granddaughters, Lori and Kristen, and great-grandson, Gavin; son, Larry Shelley (Jan), of Carl Junction, granddaughter, Dianna; daughter, Lisa Nelson (Doug), of Tucson, Arizona, grandsons, Logan and Blake; step-daughter, Cheryl Lipscomb (Jeff), of Edmond, Oklahoma, step-grandsons, Ryan (Megan) and Cole, step-great-grandson, Spencer; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Myrna was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnne Graham.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Parker Mortuary with Pastor Marsha West-Eichler officiating. A private burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at 1:00 p.m. Thursday until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
