(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Rickey Dean O’Dell, 72 of Carthage, passed away at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday September 14, 2021 at his home. Rickey was born May 22, 1949 in Fort Scott, KS. He was the son of Raymond Dean O’Dell and Ruby (Laron) O’Dell.
Rickey was employed by Brown's Refrigeration Express, Tri-State Motor Transit. When he retired he worked for Mercy of Carthage. Rickey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage. His family meant everything, he was a handyman, strong in his faith. He loved bass fishing, was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and loved the “Oldies” and Elvis.
Rickey married Amy Russell on August 19, 1993 in Carthage at the First Baptist Church. She survives.
Rickey is survived by his children, Rickey D. O’Dell II (Tereasa) of Redfield, KS., Sherry Willson (Gary) of Coweta, OK, Brian O’Dell (Trisha) of Galena, KS., Matthew O’Dell (Christine) of Fort Scott, KS., Nathaniel O’Dell (Amber) of Neosho, MO., Lewis Russell (Amanda) of Atlanta, GA., Sean O’Dell (Laila Douglas) One brother, Dion O’Dell (Holly) of Joplin, MO, two sisters, Debbie Graham (David) Pensacola, FL, Marquita Lamer (Raymond) of Kansas City, MO. Thirteen Grandchildren, Donavan, Johnathan, Caroline, Rebecca, Kayla, Megan, Lydia, Orrin, Rhett, Clara, Cypert Joe, Leona, Elliot James, Twelve Great Grandchildren, McCayla, Adriana, Taton, Conor, Landon, Brenly, Lillian, Scarlet, George, Gabby, Ryan, Ellizabeth.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Carthage. Online condolences may be sent at www.ulmerfh.com.
