(From Konantz Warden Funeral Home)Thad Denton Yount passed away on Thursday September 23, 2021. TD was born on November 30, 1932, near Verdella, MO to Jaxie and Linnie (Lively) Yount.
He married Lou Shields and they remained married until 1998 when she passed away.
In May of 2001 he married Patsy Jones. TD was a member of the Hermon Lodge Number 187, A.F. and A. M.; Eastern Star Chapter 456 of Jerico Springs, MO; Shriner of the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg, KS; and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Valley of Joplin Orient of MO since 1976.
He will be remembered for driving the little big wheels in the Shriner’s parade and the annual fundraiser selling Vidalia onions. He was a farmer and enjoyed everything farming especially his cows.
He worked for several years as a road maintainer for Barton City and his family says that he drove his wheelchair like his grader, ignoring all obstacles in his path. He also worked at 3M in Nevada, MO for over 20 years and retired from there. TD enjoyed being outside, liked mowing his yard, and had a specific way that it needed to be done. He also liked to putter in the garage and built ironing board chairs and other items from wood. TD enjoyed visiting and talking and will be missed by many family members and friends.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Rick Yount, Randy Yount, Tim Yount, and Mark Johnson; daughters, Diana Hines, and Brenda Bartlett; son in law Glen Christy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Pammy Johnson, Trisha Taylor, Blair Johnson, Korey Yount, Eric Yount, Nico Yount, Cooter Yount, Trinnade Hughes, Tiberly Crockett; and great-grandchildren, Dakota Lindsteadt, Colton Lindsteadt, Maddie Lindsteadt, Maci Yount, Hunter Yount, Trevor Yount, Carter Yount, Cody Hughes, Chad Yount, and Cole Yount.
TD is preceded in death by his first wife Louetta Yount and daughter Debbie Johnson. A graveside service will be held on Monday September 27, 2021 at 10 A.M. at Barton City Cemetery.
The family suggest donations in lieu of flowers be made to Shriners of the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg, KS. The funeral home will be open for viewing and to sign the book on Sunday September 26, 2021 from 1 P.M. to 6 P.M.
