(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Robert “Travis” Coach , 47, passed away unexpectedly on September 5th, at his parents' home in Galena, Ks. Travis was born on August 6th, 1974 in Joplin, Mo to Robert and Sandra Coach.
Travis grew up in Riverton, Ks. He graduated from Riverton High School in Riverton, Ks in 1991. After high school Travis completed an Apprenticeship at Boilermaker National in Hastings, Minnesota where he received a certification in rigging and Crain operation, blue print reading and welding.
Following in his father’s footsteps he worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron as a weld supervisor where he worked for many years.
Travis married Melissa Tuttle September 19th They were happily married for 12 years.
Travis had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh, no matter the situation Travis would find humor in it.
He enjoyed Sushi, Chinese food, Mexican food and his mom's home cooking. At age 9 Travis become a Guillain-Barre survivor. He also had a special talent of modifying vehicles and doing body work. He loved fishing with his dad and adored his crazy dog Angus. The thing he loved the most and took the greatest pride in were his children. Courtney Mallory, of Riverton, Ks. Travis is survived by his spouse Melissa of Tulsa, Oklahoma ; his sisters Shawnda (Krissy) Qualls and Stacey Coach Webb City, Mo. Nephew Skylar B. Coach, Nixa, Mo. Niece Hannah Mogel, and husband Jon Junction city, Colorado. Niece Cheyenne B. Merriman, Carterville, Mo and several great nephews and nieces.
The family has entrusted Derfelt Funeral Home in Baxter Springs, Ks with the arrangements. Details about services will be posted at a later date.
