Jerry Hallum

Jerry Wayne Hallum, 73, of Colcord, Oklahoma joined the Heavenly Blue Grass Band on Monday, September 20, 20221 at his residence.

He began his journey on October 3, 1947 in Wichita falls, Texas, son of the late, John Lee Hallum and Evelyn Lorraine (Templeman) Hallum. 

Jerry wore many hats during his lifetime, hauling hay or unloading feed at the local feed store as a teenager; enlisting in the Army and serving two tours in Vietnam; working in the strip mines in NE Oklahoma; a mechanic for both the Ford and Chevrolet garages; a police officer in Vinita, Pryor, Moore and Tulsa, Oklahoma, retiring in 1995, Jerry completed his military career at the Tulsa Air National Guard Base, retiring in 1997. 








While working, Jerry found time to complete his Associate Degree from Connor State College and his Bachelor’s Degree from the Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. 

He married Susan (Lark) Hallum on October 16, 1985 and together they enjoyed 35 years together. 

 Following his retirement, he was the executive Director for the Housing Authority and opened Jerry’s Music, both in Southwest City, Missouri. Jerry’s dream was to teach kids to play music, especially Blue Grass and Gospel. His instrument of choice was the Banjo, but he also played guitar, fiddle and mandolin. Jerry was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Southwest City, Missouri, where he served in many capacities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Ray Martin; step-father, Wiley Brooks; a daughter, Stephanie Dyan; two infant sisters, and a brother-in-law, Robbie Bowman

Jerry is survived by his wife, Lark of the home; son, Robert Hallum; brother, Basil Hallum (Nina); sisters, Suzie Dawes (Tom), Debra Davenport (Ed) and Jamie Bowman; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as a host of family, friends and neighbors who will dearly miss Jerry.

The family requests no flowers please; make memorial contributions to the Southwest City United Methodist Church or the National Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in care of the funeral home. Jerry will be buried in the National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
