(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)On September 18, 2021, Alpha Fern Jensen of Joplin, age 95, passed away after living an exceedingly full life. Alpha was born in Monett, MO on August 21, 1926 to J.J. and Alice (Stockton) Lauderdale. She was a lifetime resident.
Alpha married the love of her life, Harry Henry Jensen on September 25, 1943 and shared over 25 wonderful years with him before he passed away. They created a life together they were proud of, along with raising their son, Harry James Jensen, and daughter, Wanda Derrickson.
Alpha was a family woman and a woman of God. She was a member of South Joplin Christian Church. In her free time, she loved knitting and drawing.
Survivors include son, Harry James Jensen and wife Sharon of Coal City, IL; daughter, Wanda and husband Erick Derrickson of Joplin; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Alpha was preceded in death by both parents and her husband Harry Henry Jensen.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 23 at Clio Cemetery in Jenkins, MO at 10:00 am. Alpha will have a visitation on Wednesday from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the care of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
