George Mead

George R. Mead age 77 of Joplin, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. He was born on February 15, 1944 in Lamar, Missouri to Charles Lee Mead and Flossie (Swafford) Mead. 

George was a farmer for most of his life, and a United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. He was a member of Park Plaza Christian Church in Joplin, loved working in his yard, collecting antiques and was an avid sports watcher. 

George married Dianna (Elliott) Mead on May 7, 1966 in Webb City, Missouri and she survives him. 

He is also survived by his sons, Richard Mead and wife Rachelle of Woodinville, Washington, James Mead and wife April of Joplin; grandchildren, Cole Mead, Raymond Mead and wife Jazmine; great grandchildren, Ryder Mead, Roman Mead, Raiden Mead; a sister, Lilly Ann Green of Pittsburg, Kansas; and a brother, Charles Mead of Thayer, Missouri. 

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM in Carl Junction Cemetery with full military honors. The family will be present for a visitation on Monday from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
