Janet Newton

Janet Key Newton, age 90, passed away on April 6, 2024. She was born to C. Landell and Mildred (Pearman) Adams on April 7, 1933. Janet was a proud graduate of Neosho High School, belonging to the class of 1951. On July 10, 1954, she married the love of her life, Jerry Newton, in Granby. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2000.

Janet found great joy in her family, faith, and community. She was a dedicated member of the Calvary Baptist Church and actively participated in various church activities. Her love for farm life was evident, and she cherished moments watching calves play in the fields, finding peace and happiness in the simplicity of rural life.

Throughout her life, Janet was involved in service, including her active membership in the Bosom Buddies of the American Cancer Society. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and dedication to helping others. Janet was a self-employed homemaker, pouring her love and care into her family and home.

Janet is survived by her niece and nephews: Larry (Norma) Newton, Judy Dana, Terry Charles, and Jimmy Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry, her daughter Jerilyn Kay Newton Bowen on November 25, 1987, and her infant brother Jimmie Adams in 1928.

A funeral service to honor Janet's life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place from 12:30-2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Neosho IOOF Cemetery. Mike Leake will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Janet can be made to the American Cancer Society or Faithful Friends.
