(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Roy Lee McConnell Jr., 85, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri. Roy Lee was born on April 22, 1938, in Jasper, Missouri, to Roy Lee McConnell Sr. and Doris Naomi (Lamb) McConnell.
Roy Lee moved to San Jose, California for some time, then made his way back home and has remained in the Carthage area since. He was employed by Dyno-Nobel as a Powder Machine Operator where he dedicated 20 plus years to his work there.
Roy Lee was united in marriage to Phylliss Brandyberry on June 26, 1976, in Reno, Nevada; she preceded him in death on November 25, 2014.
He leaves behind one son, Paul McConnell (Laura) of Ellenwood, Georgia; two brothers, Darrell McConnell of Carthage, and Gary McConnell (Sherry) of Joplin; one sister, Donna Draper (Frank) of Claremore, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; and some very dear friends.
Roy Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Phylliss McConnell; his parents, Roy and Doris McConnell Sr.; and one sister-in-law, Denise McConnell.
There will be a service for Roy Lee at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Faith Life Worship Center of Carthage, Missouri, with military honors.
