(From Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home)Matthew F. Thande, 27, of Wichita and formerly of Parsons, passed away the morning of Monday, June 10, 2024, in Wichita. His death was unexpected.
Matthew Fontelroy Thande was born on April 2, 1997, to Thiong’o Thande and Beatrice Irene Fontelroy in Fullerton, California. At the age of 5, he moved with his family to Parsons, where he grew up and attended Garfield and Lincoln Elementary Schools. After graduating from Parsons High School, Matthew returned to California, where he attended Consumnes River College in Sacramento. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Wichita State University.
Currently, Matthew was living in Wichita and working in the Aerospace industry.
He was a member of the Please Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Charles Barker, Sr. and later attended Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Riley Cartwright. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Known as the artist, “Mavenue”, Matthew was committed to his musical craft. His curiosity of the world led to his love for travel, particularly to his other home country, Kenya.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Watson Memorial Chapel Church of God in Christ in Parsons. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
