Carol Laepple Melton, 78 of Lamar, Mo, went to be with the Lord February 1, 2021, at KU medical center following a brief illness after recovering from Covid.
Carol was born December 11, 1942, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Edward & Jean Hampton Laepple. She graduated from Lamar Class of 1960. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Lamar, Missouri.
Carol married Gary Melton, June 28, 1985.

Carol leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Gary Melton; two sons, Troy Holzbach and his wife Dawna of Lamar, Koty Melton and his wife Lindsey of Lamar; one daughter, Bonnie Holzbach Behrend of Joplin; five grandchildren, Derek Gamble, Jakob Holzbach, Keaton Holzbach, Kinzley Melton, and Kruz Melton; one great grandson, Zain Gamble; one sister, Kathy Sanders and her husband David; two brothers, Tom Laepple and his wife Barbara and Steve Laepple and his wife Deanna; her aunt Roberta Hampton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Carol in death were her parents.
Carol was known as a local talented artist. She was a very active member of her church and was on the church choir team. Carol also was a Lions Club and Art League member. She loved to spend time with her family, taking photographs and reading.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Lamar First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Howell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home
