Jace Goodwin

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Jace Gregory Goodwin, of Webb City, Missouri, a cherished son, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 6:01 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, due to complications from a tragic automobile accident that occurred on August 14, 2021, just a few days before the start of his senior year.

Born on November 13, 2003, in Lebanon, Missouri, Jace's infectious smile and boundless kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him throughout his 20 years of life.

Raised in Anderson and Carl Junction, Missouri, Jace was a 2022 graduate of Carl Junction High School. Jace had aspirations of attending mortuary school, inspired to follow in his father's footsteps as a funeral director and embalmer. His commitment to this path reflected his deep sense of care for others and his desire to support families during their times of greatest need.

Jace's life was a tapestry of interests and passions. He was an avid fan of music, with the legendary Johnny Cash among his favorite artists. His love for American History shone brightly, often found watching war movies and engaging in discussions about historical events. A strong conservative, Jace was never one to shy away from expressing his political beliefs with conviction and respect.

In his leisure, he could be found fishing, playing video games, watching the Kansas City Chiefs or enjoying a hearty meal surrounded by those he loved. He was blessed to move into his own home in September of 2023, a place he was so proud of and loved dearly. Jace accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was Baptized by his grandfather, Doug Gregory. Because of his faith, we find great comfort in knowing he is in the very presence of our Heavenly Father, whole, complete and happy.

Family was the cornerstone of Jace's world. He is survived by his devoted parents, Cassidi and Shannon Abts, and B.J. and Diana Goodwin; his brother, Jay Goodwin; stepsisters, Carly (Tristan) and Chloe Abts; stepbrothers, Alex and Sam Hook; his maternal grandmother, Pam Gregory; paternal grandparents, Bill and Pam Goodwin; his cherished nephews and niece, Jude, Jax, and Hazel Jo; his aunt, Callie and Jay Crain; uncles, C.J. and David Goodwin; his cousins, Carlie, Camden, Case, Gavin, and Reece; his girlfriend, Alexis; as well as his extended family and a multitude of friends will forever remember Jace's loving spirit.

Jace was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Doug Gregory, and his uncle, Colby Gregory.

Those who knew Jace will remember him as a beacon of love, kindness, and humor. His laughter was contagious, his heart generous, and his presence a comfort to those around him. Jace's ability to light up a room with his smile and his eagerness to lend a helping hand are qualities that will be deeply missed and eternally cherished. Though his time with us was cut short, the memories he created will endure, a testament to a life that, though brief, was lived to the fullest.

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Missouri, with Pastor Kenny Killingsworth officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are B.J. Goodwin, Shannon Abts, Jay Goodwin, C.J. Goodwin, David Goodwin and Jay Crain. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to Craig Hospital c/o the mortuary. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Eazy Living and Jace’s staff for their wonderful care. Arrangements are under the care of his father and staff of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
