Susan Dye

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Susan Jane Dye was born October 6, 1944, to Barney and Vada Hilger in Huntington Park, California. On April 10, 2024, at the age of 79, Susie achieved her greatest ambition when she heard her Savior say, "Well done."

Suse had been a medical transcriber for the California Department of Corrections prior to her and her husband, Steve Dye retiring and moving to Webb City in 1993.

Suse had a strong Christian faith and was a member of New Grace Assembly in Oronogo, Missouri. Her faith sustained her even after being given a grave medical diagnosis in 2004. Her condition began affecting her mobility, forcing her to use a walker until her legs grew too weak to support her, yet her faith was still strong.

After her husband passed away in 2019 she moved into Joplin Health and Rehab where she lived until she passed, last Wednesday. Despite all her hardships, Suse rarely complained, she would say, "I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in." When asked how she felt, she would often respond positively and with enthusiasm. She loved to joke and tease with people and was always cheerful, possibly even more so than those she was speaking to. Even in the nursing home she brought joy to others. She truly had a gift of encouragement.

Suse was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Vada Hilger, her husband, Stephen Dye, and a daughter Melissa Grogg. She is survived by her daughter Christina Boggan and her husband Steve, in California and a stepson, Joshua Dye and his wife Heather, in California, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as by many friends who love her dearly and will miss her greatly.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel.

Graveside service at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City will follow the service.

Arrangements under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory - Joplin, MO
