John was born on July 2, 1952, in Osceola, AR, to the union of John “Charles” Parnell and Dorothy (Tate) Parnell. He was a graduate of Osceola, AR and then went on to work several different jobs including; factory maintenance for Maverick Steel, Smuckers, Nike, and Oakley. He married the love of his life, Katherine “Kathy” Moss, in 1972 in Osceola, AR. Together they were blessed with 2 children, Danielle Abner and Megan Petersen. He was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan.
