Frank "Beans" Wolfinbarger

Frank ‘Beans’ Owen Wolfinbarger, 86, Neosho, died January 1, 2014 at Medicalodge in Neosho, following a lengthy illness. Frank was born April 9, 1927 in Neosho and had resided in the Grand Lake and Tiff City area most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II; worked for Harvey Seba and then went into business with his son, Gary as Wolfinbarger Painting in 1972 and retired in 1990. He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family. Frank and Emma (Marks) were married on March 28, 1947 and she preceded him in death in June, 2002. He is survived by a son, Gary Wolfinbarger and wife, Janine, Neosho; two grandchildren, Robert Wolfinbarger and wife, Angie, Seneca and Kristi Swint and husband, Stuart, Odessa, TX; four great grandchildren, Kaylee and Parker Wolfinbarger and Ian and Mallory Swint and a brother, Lloyd Wolfinbarger, Seneca. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Al-Saeedan; three brothers, Amos ‘Kilroy’ Wolfinbarger, Clifford ‘Cotton’ Wolfinbarger and James ‘Bucky’ Wolfinbarger and two sisters, Sylvia and Betty.

Kevin Hayes

Kevin Patrick Hayes, 51, Joplin, passed away on December 31, 2013. He was born on February 12, 1962 in Long Beach, California to James Patrick Hayes and Sharon Lee (Jones) Hayes.

 Kevin moved to Joplin in 1978 and graduated from Neosho High School in 1980. He was an extremely talented fabricator and worked at Allied Engineering for over 30 years. There are many examples of his work throughout Joplin and he was a big part of building the Art Feeds bus. He had the ability to come up with an idea, draw it on paper, and then build it from scratch. He was a hard worker, whether it was for his job or volunteering. He was a wonderful, loving son; brother; father and grandfather. Kevin was an uplifting, kind-hearted person who had a positive impact on all who met him. One of his favorite hobbies was building guitars and playing them. He was never a materialistic person, he was always happy with what he had. 

Survivors include one daughter, Katelyn Hayes, Neosho; two sons, Ryan Hayes, an Airman currently stationed in South Korea, Joseph Hayes, a Marine, stationed in San Diego, California with his wife, Sarah; one grandson, Weston Metcalf; two brothers, Stan Hayes and Steve Hayes and his wife, Deb, Joplin; his mother, Sharon Hayes, Joplin; his aunt, Bonnie Swanson, and several nieces and nephews. He was previously married to Dawn Harmon of Neosho and Jacque Dickson, Hannibal, Missouri. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, James Patrick Hayes.

 Memorial services are planned for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Blendville Christian Church, 2201 S. Picher Ave. Kevin donated his remains for medical research, so there will be no graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in care of Parker Mortuary.

Ann Berry

Ann A. Berry was born February 29, 1932, and died January 1, 2014.

She is survived by daughter Gail and Don Oxendine, daughter Linda Ingram, sister Joan Valentine, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Emelia (Oldenburg) Lang.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Clark Funeral Home Granby Chapel. Chapel service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, January 6, at Clark Funeral Home Granby Chapel.

Burial will be at Newtonia IOOF Cemetery.

Dorothy Watkins

Dorothy Ann Watkins, age 68, of Webb City, Mo. passed away at 9:49 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at her home. Dorothy was born August 20, 1945 in Webb City, She was raised in Neosho and returned to Webb City in 1988. She and her husband owned several Sonic Drive-Ins including a store in Bolivar, Mo. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Webb City. She was also a member of the Redhatters, and she and her husband were involved in a cruise night club. Dorothy also enjoyed playing Bunko.

Dorothy married Charles W. Watkins September 18, 1965 in Neosho, Mo. and he survives. Additional survivors include three daughters, Vicki An Jones, and Kimberly Elliston and husband Daniel, all of Stockton, Mo. and La Donna Robbins and husband Jimmy, Bolivar, Mo., one brother, William J. Sprenger, Carthage, Mo., 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gladys Sprenger, two brothers, George R. and Herman J. Sprenger, and a grandson, Charlie Watkins.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Webb City with Rev. Kyle Beverlin officiating. Burial will follow at the Pennsboro Cemetery, north of Miller, Mo. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Jones, Eric Jones, Jimmy Robbins, Justin Robbins, Daniel Elliston, Dakota Elliston, and Shane McCarley. Vern Gilbert and William Sprenger will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hedge-Lewis Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home of Webb City, Mo.

Glenn Allison

Glenn Kay Allison, age 77, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on January 1, 2014 after a six month long fight against cancer.

Glenn was born in Miller, Missouri, June 4, 1936. He was the son of John Ernest Allison and Mildred (Kirby) Allison and the family resided in rural Greenfield, MO until 1944. Upon moving to Jasper County, he attended Underwood and Perseverance Schools and later three years at Carl Junction High School and transferred to Carthage High School his Senior year. He also attended Missouri University for one year taking agriculture classes.

Glenn and Betty “Harrison” Allison were married in Miami, Oklahoma, November 22, 1958.

Survivors include his wife Betty Allison of Carthage; daughter Debbie (Allison) Carter and husband Peter Carter of Carthage; daughter Lisa Allison of Tulsa, OK; two grandsons Lathe Carter and wife Brittany Carter of Carthage and Landon Carter of Carthage; two sisters Nelda R. (Allison) Shirley and husband John R. Shirley of Joplin and Glenna J. (Allison) Dykens and husband Raymond L. Dykens of Fayette, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lyndall Allison, sister Marilyn Mahurin and a son Russell Glenn Allison.

Glenn was employed earlier at Boeing, Wichita, KS and worked in construction. He was a semi driver for Yellow Freight, Atlas Powder Company and DYNO Nobel. The years with Atlas and DYNO were usually hauling explosives. He enjoyed his driving and the fellowship of his team members.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Graveside Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

Edna Mapes

Edna Mapes age 94 of Carthage, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.

 She was born on January 19, 1919 in Joplin, Missouri to John Boyd and Grace Coulson Boyd. Edna was a member of the Oronogo United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Mapes in 1992 and a daughter, Grayce Ann Davis in 2007.

 Edna is survived by a son, Larry Mapes and wife Loretta of Claremore, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Oronogo United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM.

 A visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Burial will be in Oronogo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Oronogo United Methodist Church.

Gary Clark

Gary Solen Clark, age 77, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at his home.

Gary was born April 14, 1936 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, son of the late Ellery Clark and Esther Hendrickson Clark. He served in the United States Army in the 1960's. He worked at YUBA in Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1968 -1984. He then moved to Joplin and began working with Thermal Engineering. He worked for them until his retirement in 1997 as a foreman.

Gary was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with his family, and was known for his love of 1957 Chevy's.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by five brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shelby J. Clark; daughters, Judy McCaslin and husband Leon of Neosho, Missouri, Teresa A. Gray Clark of Joplin; a son, Jeff Clark and his partner Bill of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Lee and husband Wayne of Huntsville, Arkansas; brother, George Clark of Gentry, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Freeman Cancer Center.
