Earney Donaldson

Earney Paul Donaldson, age 72, of Riverton, Kan., passed from this life on Oct. 30, 2017 following a short illness. Earney was born on Feb. 1, 1945, in Galena, Kan., to his parents Earnest and Ruby (Armitage) Donaldson.

Earney was a graduate of Galena Schools where he excelled in athletics. He later obtained his Associates Degree in Business and Industrial Supervision from Labette Community College in Parson, Kansas.

Earney lived in southeast Kansas his entire life and was dedicated to serving the people of Cherokee County. In 1966, Earney started his celebrated career in law enforcement as a patrol officer with The Joplin Police Department. He later served as an officer for Galena Police Department in 1967 before accepting a position with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department where he served thirty-three years. During his tenure with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, Earney served as a member of the Tri-State Major Case Squad; the department’s hostage negotiator; the lead representative between the department and all outside agencies, including the Kansas Bureau of Investigation; and lead supervisor of all Sheriff’s Department investigations. Earney’s final sixteen years of service with the Sheriff’s Department was as Undersheriff. In August of 1999, Earney began his most recent role as a security officer for Riverton Schools, in Riverton, Kansas.

He was a member of the Riverton Friends Church, Riverton, KS; the Kansas Sheriff Assn and the Kansas Peace Officers Assn. He was a retired member of the Galena KS Volunteer Fire Department. Earney received numerous recognitions and awards for his meritorious service. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, and his pet dogs. His greatest interest was his family and grandkids.

Earney is survived by his wife of 50 years, Royce. One son, Scott Donaldson, his daughter Sydnee Donaldson of Riverton, Kansas, and her mother Jennifer Donaldson of Joplin, Missouri. One daughter, Heather Richmond, her husband Jared, their son’s Chase Richmond with girlfriend Taylor Cowan, and Cutler Richmond all of Joplin, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Ruby; Earney was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Joe “Hammer” Mallatt and one sister, Vivian Jean Mallatt.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Riverton Friends Church, Riverton, Kansas.

The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Derfelt Funeral Home in Galena, Kansas. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Riverton High School Fieldhouse officiated by Wes Davis and Shane Dotson with Carey Haner assisting.

Louise Fields

Louise Beatrice Fields, age 85 of Joplin, Mo., transitioned to be with the Lord on October 27th, 2017, following a short illness.

Louise was born on October 24th, 1932, to the late Wade and Rosetta Ormand Barksdale, in Emelle, Al., from that union she was one of ten children. The family moved to Joplin in the late 1950s. Louise was a housekeeper in private homes for 20 plus years before returning to school to obtain her LPN License. She went on to have a 25 year career before retiring from St. John’s Medical Center. In 1951, she married Lieutenant Burton, preceding her in death. This union was blessed with four children. In 1972, she married Chester Fields, preceding her in death, where the union was blessed with two children.

Louise was a Christian who served God for many years and loved to talk about our Lord and graciously served as an usher and was head of the Usher Board and Mission Board for several years. Louise had a very kind nature and she loved a good conversation. She was known for her friendly spirit and her kindness towards other people. She will be greatly missed.

Louise is survived by two sons; David Fields of Joplin, Danny Fields of Oklahoma City, Ok., three daughters; Bertha Burton of Joplin, Rosie Lee and husband Bernard of Houston, Tx., Laura Fields-Jackson and husband Leeroy of Joplin, two step-daughters; Kathy Britt and Kristen Cain, grandson; Tierre Fields, who was raised by Chester and Louise, fourteen grandchildren, fourty-one great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, one brother; R.L. Barksdale and wife Claira of Colorado Springs, Co., four sisters; Kathy Monroe and Letha Chadida both of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Arlene Samuels and Johnnie Mae Johnson of Kansas City, Mo., and numerous in-laws, nieces nephews, extended family and many friends. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, her daughter; Stephanie Burton, a granddaughter; Raven Fields, a brother; J.B. Barksdale, and four sisters; Susie Barksdale, Vandora Cox, Pearl Gilmore and Magnolia Robertson.

Louise’s Home Going Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Samuel Nero, will officiate. Burial will follow at Parkway Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in care of the mortuary.

Thomas Hutchins

Thomas A. Hutchins, Jr. passed away on October 31, 2017.

He was born on October 8, 1937 in Hartley, DE.

Thomas is survived by his wife of sixty years, Joyce Hutchins, of Monett, MO. They were married on June 1, 1957 in Denton, MD.

He is survived by his three sons, David Hutchins and his wife Karen, of Springfield, IL, Eric Hutchins, of Fayetteville, AR and Michael Hutchins and wife Stacy, of Neosho, MO; two daughters, Shelly Johnson and husband Kenny, of Neosho, MO and Joyce Allred and husband Gail, of Monett, MO; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. and Alice R. Hutchins; and one daughter Linda Dutton.

Thomas worked for many years as a carpenter and was always willing to help with making repairs and building homes and farm buildings. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and taking trips to Branson.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Family Worship Center in Monett. Pastor Fernando Gonzalez will be officiating. Interment will be held at the King’s Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Home Health and Hospice, Cassville, MO in care of the funeral home. Reba Replogle

Reba M. Replogle, 84, Reeds, MO, passed away early Sunday morning, October 29, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO, after a short illness. Reba Marcella Sumners was born August 9, 1933 in Carthage, MO to the late Tildon Sumners and Evelyn (Gardner) Sumners. She worked as a shoe sorter for Bob’s Shoe Warehouse. Reba married Glenn Replogle on September 12, 1947 in Carthage, MO; he preceded her in death on October 6, 2015.

Survivors include two sons, Bob Replogle (wife Barb), Carthage, MO and Dick Replogle (wife Sandy), Carthage, MO; one daughter, Glenda Carr, Carthage, MO; two sisters, Betty Smith (husband Dale), Carthage, MO and Shirley Phillips, Ephrata, WA; two brothers, Raymond Ralston, Carthage, MO and Gene Ralston, Joplin, MO; three grandchildren, Lynn Thomas, Carthage, MO, Gary Replogle (wife Hidy), Carthage, MO, and Scott Bastings (wife Jennie), Oronogo, MO; and two great grandchildren, Drew Thomas, Carthage, MO, and Claire Bastings, Oronogo, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tildon Sumners and Evelyn Ralston, her husband, three brothers, Ted Sumners, Artie Ralston, and George Ralston, and one son-in-law, Dwight Carr, and one grandchild, Brian Bastings.

Visitation will be held 6-7 pm, Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Graveside funeral services will be held 1:30 pm, Friday, November 3, 2017 at Hackney Cemetery, Carthage. Rev. Bob Rowe

Robert Eugene 'Uncle Bob' Rowe, age 83, Joplin, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2017 in Joplin.

Robert was born August 7, 1934 in Picher, Oklahoma and had lived in Tulsa and Joplin most of his life.

He graduated from N.E.O. with an Associate's Degree in Business Management. He was a member of the band and marched in the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California. Robert worked for Oil Marketers in Tulsa for several years as an office manager. He volunteered for the Joplin Senior Citizens Center and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his sisters, Earline Holden and her husband, Claude, Ketchum, Oklahoma, Peggy Starling, Joplin, Linda Stewart and her husband, Earl, Joplin, Sharon Hale, Duenweg; ten nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Services are planned for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Karen Krokroskia will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Fanny Hatten

Fanny Louise Hatten, age 85, Joplin, formerly of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Joplin.

Fanny was born April 17, 1932 in Thealka, Kentucky, daughter of the late Bert and Lilly Mae Cassel. She was one of ten children, and graduated from high school before attending Bible College. She married Renaldo Hatten on April 10, 1952 in Ohio, and the couple moved to Phoenix. She spent her life taking care of her five children and husband. After her husband preceded her in death on July 30, 2005, she moved to Joplin in 2013 to be closer to her daughter.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Renaldo, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Cooper, and brothers, David and Bill Cassel.

Survivors include her children, Diane Dienhart and husband David of Caldwell, Idaho, Larry Hatten of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Deborah Rieck and husband Eric of Oronogo, Missouri, Tim Hatten and wife Tanya of Federal Way, Washington, and Philip Hatten and wife Carol of Litchfield, AZ; eleven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren; siblings, Opal Patrick and husband Joe of Jamestown, Ohio, Barbara Hackley of Springfield, Ohio, Florence Williams of Chilicothe, Ohio, Bert Cassel of Springfield, Ohio, Connie Gatty and husband Dave of Pilot Point, Texas, and Kay Blair of Springfield, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, November 7, 20117 at 7:00 p.m. at Mesa Church, Mesa, Arizona.

Interment will be private in Green Acres Cemetery, Scottsdale, Arizona.

Chester Lacy

Chester Lewis Lacy, age 75, Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at Mercy Hospital after an illness.

Chester was born July 19, 1942, in Wyandotte, Oklahoma son of the late Bruce D. Lacy and Myrtle J. James Lacy, and had lived in the area all of his life.

He gave proud and honorable service to his country as a member of the United States Army from 1961 - 1968. He served in Alaska, Japan, and Vietnam as an Army Medical Service Combat Medic, Operating Room Technician, and Surgeon’s Assistant. NCOK Surgical Service.

After leaving the Army, Chester worked as an automobile salesman; owned and operated a laundry service, and had several rental properties for several years. Chester was a member of the Wyandotte Indian Nation.

He married Brenda L Thuerauf on June 4, 1997, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include four children, Caitlin Lacy of Carl Junction, Lonnie Tighe of Pittsburg, Kansas, Crystal Campbell and Angie Westerman, both of Springfield; a brother, Ronald Lacy of Raymore, Missouri; six grandchildren, and three great grandkids.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 at 12:00 Noon, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Bala Swami Govindu officiating.

Interment will follow at Wyandotte Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:00 PM at Parker Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church, in care of Parker Mortuary.
