(From Simpson Funeral Home)We mourn the loss, yet celebrate the life of Johnny Ellison. He was a charismatic soul known for his generosity and compassion. He left us October 9, 2026. He was born February 9, 1968 in Carthage, Mo. He spent his life in both Colorado and Missouri. He was known as "John" to his close friends. He was never at a loss for words and valuable advice. He never met a stranger. His radiant smile and wit were as infectious as his immeasurable kindness. His heartfelt advice and generous nature were a testament to his love for those around him.
John loved the outdoors. He found peace in fishing, hunting, and the tranquility of boating. Being out on the water on the boat with his friends and family was the highlight of summertime for him. John also enjoyed the simple pleasure of visiting with his friends and family on the front porch of his home. He had a soft spot, and a way with pets and animals. John always loved to see those around him be happy and successful.
John was a proud veteran of the US Army. He served for a total of 7 years and was deployed to the Middle East during Desert Storm . While in the Army he was an Airborne Ranger with the 75th Ranger Regiment. He was also a Communication Specialist with Charlie Company, 124th Signal Battalion at Fort Carson, CO. John was very humbled by the numerous military awards he received, one of them being the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. In addition to serving in the Army, John spent many years farming and ranching in Colorado.
John is preceded in death by his children, Tabor and Amber Ellison, grandmother Alberta Mahurin, grandfather David L. Carter. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. We invite all who knew John to celebrate his life, remembering his unique qualities that made him the extraordinary person he was.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Arcilee and sons, John Ellison, and Paul Sanchez, mother Linda Bresee, stepfather, Leroy Bresee, sister Tracy Ellison and his brother Terry Ellison, very special family and friends, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
