Randy Garrett

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Randy Dwayne Garrett, 69 years young, was born on November 22nd, 1956, in Joplin Missouri to the late John and Lila Garrett.

On October 4th 2026, Randy unexpectedly passed away at his home in Carl Junction, Missouri, with his wife Laura and son Malachi by his side.

Randy was raised in the Joplin, Missouri area and attended the Joplin R8 School District. After graduating, Randy proudly answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army National Guard.

Following basic training, he deployed to Panama and served with dedication and distinction. He received an honorable discharge from the Army, a milestone he carried with lifelong pride. His time in the service instilled in him a deep respect for structure, comradery, and dedication.

Upon returning home, Randy built a long-respected career working locally in the Webb City area as a professional cement truck driver. After health issues required his early retirement, his active spirit kept him moving forward.

In 1986, Randy became the proud father of his daughter Heather Garrett and his son Chris Forsythe. Randy was a man who willingly and boldly accepted responsibilities that was never required of him.

He first met his beloved wife Laura Rose over thirty years ago. While life took them on separate paths for a time, they reunited a decade ago and picked up where they left off. Five years later, they were joined in holy matrimony and shared four beautiful years of marriage while in Carl Junction.

In their early years, Randy stepped up when others stepped out and became the devoted father to Laura Rose’ three children Richard Shaffer, Crystal Black, and Martha Romero. Just a few months after marriage, Randy chose to extend his love and guidance with heartfelt initiative and requested that he and Laura adopt their grandson Malachi. In 2024, Randy also became the ‘forever’ parent, dedicated caretaker and best friend to Poppy our standard poodle, who quickly became his inseparable shadow and a testament to the love Randy endlessly gave.

Randy was a man of simple pleasures and loved listening to the oldies. He was a passionate lover of tacos, burgers, bacon, and was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Randy is survived by his loving wife Laura Rose, his brother John Michael, his children Heather Garrett, Malachi Shaffer, and Chris Forsythe, his bonus children Richard Shaffer, Crystal Black, and Martha Romero, his grandchildren and his faithful dog, Poppy.

In accordance to his wishes, Randy has been cremated. There will be two Celebration of Life held in honor of Randy.
