Sheila Staggs

Sheila Joann Staggs, age 52, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on August 15, 2018, in Kaufman, Texas. Sheila was blessed to be surrounded by her loving husband, family and friends during the last months of her 14-year battle with cancer.

Sheila was born on October 15, 1965, in Kingsport, Tenn. Prior to her cancer diagnosis, Sheila was employed by Mid-Con Cable, Joplin, and St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Hawkins, of Texas.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Lanny Staggs, of the home; mother and stepfather, Bernice and David Boyles, Kaufman; father and stepmother, Bobby and Sara Hawkins, Kingsport; daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Joseph Magnusson, Jacksonville, N.C.; goddaughter, Bonnie Johnson, Joplin; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Vivien Brite, Fort Riley, Kan.; son, Nicholas Brite, Joplin; sisters, Mechelle Morgan, Supher Springs, Texas, and Addy Boyles, Kaufman; stepsons, Roger Staggs, Bradley Staggs and wife, Mende; stepdaughter, Kelli Newcomb; grandchildren, Scarlett Johnson, Lydia Magnusson, Aurora Brite; step-grandchildren, Sagan Stephens, Tori Graskemper, Logan Staggs, Elizabeth Staggs, Clarissa Fox, Caleb Staggs, Corin Staggs and Cai Staggs.

She loved her family and was so proud of her children, grandchildren and extended family. She truly knew how to love, was loved by all and will be so missed. We look forward to the day when we see her again in Heaven.

Sheila's wishes were to be cremated with no formal funeral services. She did not want her passing to be a sad occasion, but did request a birthday party to celebrate her new Heavenly birthday. One celebration was held in Texas and another in Missouri is pending.

Judith Brown

Judith Celina Brown, passed away unexpectedly at her Neosho home on August 22, 2018, at the age of 54 years, 11 months, and two days.

Judith was born September 20, 1963 in St. Louis, MO to Joseph Edward and Mary Patricia (Scharfinski) Brown. She moved to this area from St. Louis in 2013. Judith was a Registered Nurse and attended Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Neosho.

She is survived by step-parents, Nancy and Albert Mensink of Neosho; one brother, Joseph Brown, Jr of Bismark, MO; and one cousin, Rhonda Richmond and husband, Greg of Goodman, MO. Judith was preceded in death by both parents.

Services are pending at this time.

Daniel Adams

Daniel S. Adams, age 82, of Webb City, MO, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at his home, following an illness.

Daniel was born on August 23, 1935 in Douglas, Arizona, the son of Clyde and Dorothy (Dearborn) Adams. He has lived in the Webb City area most of his life. He married Dortha Carey on September 24, 1954 in Oronogo, MO. Together they raised two daughters. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked 32 years as an Electronics Technician for Mardick Furniture. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Webb City.

He is survived by his wife, Dortha Adams, Webb City, MO, two daughters, Gina Monson (Rick) of Webb City, MO and Valerie Glaze (Oran Baker) of Joplin, MO; one sister, Martha Alford of Waco, MO; and one granddaughter, Stephanie Alburty (Jonathan). He was preceded in death by one brother, John Adams.

Graveside committal of ashes service will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Webb City, MO at the Pavilion located at the Veteran’s Memorial, at 10:30am, Monday, August 27, 2018.

Donna Edens

Donna Jean Edens, age 66, Joplin, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Freeman Hospital.

Donna was born December 3, 1951 in Joplin to the late Dennis J. Pendley and Bernice Martin Pendley and had lived in Joplin most of her life.

She worked as an R.N. at Freeman Hospital and Community Hospice for several years before her retirement. Donna enjoyed hunting, crafts and spending time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She married Paul D. Edens on September 6, 1975 in Joplin. He survives at the home.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Cassi Edens, Joplin, Cara Edens and significant other, Mike Hobbs, Blue Springs, Missouri; two brothers, Gary Pendley, Neosho, Tim Pendley, Joplin; two grandchildren, Gatlin and Presley and many other family and friends.

Her family will be welcoming visitors on Saturday between 2-4:00 p.m. at Journey Church, 301 S. McKinley Ave. for a celebration of Donnas' life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Bob Wolf

Robert “Bob” Charles Wolf age 85, Oronogo, passed away at 7:40 p.m. August 20, 2018 at Mercy Hospital.

Bob was born January 17, 1933 in Salem, Arkansas to the late Ed Wolf and Virgie Tracy Wolf.

Bob graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 1954 with a B.S.E. After graduating he married his college sweetheart, Grace Helen Blake on Nov. 3, 1954 in Plainview Arkansas. After college he served in the United States Army and was honorably discharge to continue his education.Bob continued his education at West Texas State where he received his masters degree and went on to be a successful basketball coach and moved up to school administration. He then went on to continue his education at George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee where he received a Doctorate in Education.

Bob moved to Joplin in 1972 and was Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education for the Joplin schools for 16 years. After retiring he spent 30 years in the cattle business. He loved being on the farm raising cattle with his wife Helen. He invested his time with his children, grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. He stayed active in his community with regular coffee with his friends at the local Quaker Mill store. He was a devoted member in the United Methodist Church and participated in many volunteer activities.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Wolf a son, Blake Wolf and two brothers, James and John Wolf.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Oldham and husband, Bill, Rogers, Arkansas, Leaha Johnson and husband, David, Webb City; daughter-in-law, Paula Wolf, Carl Junction; a sister, Louise Welch, Salem; grandchildren, Austin Wolf and wife, Kendal, Webb City, Jonathan Johnson and wife, Rachel, Nixa, Paul Oldham and wife, Gyo Mendez, Kansas City, Matthew Johnson and wife, Kassie, Oronogo, Aaron Oldham and wife, Amanda, Raleigh, North Carolina, Sam Wolf, Kansas City, Joe Wolf, Carl Junction, Lauren Wolf and husband, Isaac, McKinney, Texas, Luke Oldham and wife, Katy, Kansas City; and great grandchildren, Ian, Weston, Carter, Brinkly, Jordan, Owen, Gaige, Gabe, Grayson, Carson and Kensley.

Services are planned for Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Weaver Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association Mid America Chapter, in care of Parker Mortuary.

Alison Rawlins

The family of Alison Nicole Rawlins of Fairview, Missouri confirms with sadness that their darling girl, who was fashionably late to everything else, left this life far too early on Sunday, August 19, 2018. She had just turned 22.

Ali was an exceptional daughter, sister, wingman, friend, and cheerleader. She loved fiercely. She was hilarious and spunky. She packed her 22 years full of adventure, fashion, friends, pizza, and festivities –especially events to which she could wear one of her many costumes.

She could strike up a friendly chat with anyone – elderly farmers, rowdy children, and anyone else she met. She was quite chatty, in fact. Once as a first-grader, she responded to her teacher’s request she stop talking in class with the “one moment, please” gesture until she’d wrapped up her conversation. She celebrated halfbirthdays and entire birthday months. Her sparkle lit up every place she entered.

Above all, though, Ali was tenderhearted and kind. She could be relied upon to listen, unjudging, for hours on end. She knew instinctively when to provide a little extra gentleness or some silliness. She was unfailingly loyal.

Ali, the sixth (and self-proclaimed but uncontested favorite) of Richard and Vicky Rawlins’ eight children, will be profoundly missed by her parents; siblings Angela (and Jason) Artherton, Sydney (and Josh) Thornock, Spencer (and Lindsey) Rawlins, Seth (and Whittley) Rawlins, Rosie Rawlins, and Shane Rawlins; grandparents Dolores and Darelld Larrigan and Donna Rawlins; many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; an adopted grandpa, Fenney Derden; her preschool students; three stepdogs; and countless others whose lives she touched. She undoubtedly is in heaven entertaining her sister Hannah and her grandparents Blaine and Rosalee Rawlins and Beauford Roots who preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Granby, Missouri under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton, Missouri. Bishop Paul Carter will conduct the services. Burial will be at Dice Cemetery in Fairview, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Granby.

Reed Smith

Reed B Smith, 98 passed away, Tuesday, August 21, 2018. He was born February 24, 1920 in Liberal, MO to James & Verla (Reed) Smith. Reed attended Hannon

School and then graduated in 1937 from Liberal High School. May 14, 1939 in Carterville, MO he married Wilma Jackman and to this union seven children were born. He and Wilma were also foster parents to over 25 children. Reed was a farmer he raised cattle, baled hay and helped his son-in-laws with their hay at the age of 80+ years. He worked at McNally Eng. for over 32 years as a truck driver, foundry worker, storeroom clerk or as a First Aid Attendant. He retired in 1982 to open a Deutz Tractor Dealership with his son-in-law Phillip Munn. He also helped build Liberal Elevator. He was of the Baptist faith and was a deacon he also served Central Western Assoc. of Freewill Baptist in multiple roles. He was always a willing servant to do God’s will and was a faithful witness and prayer warrior. 

He is survived by his children: Earl Smith (Donna), Lita Smith-Munn (Bobby), Sammy Joe Smith (Glenda), Dale Smith (Lisa), and Loretta Hoover (Lyle), 19 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren also 1 sister Beth Rader and 1 brother Howard Smith (Joanna). He was preceded in death by his wife, son JR, daughter Rita Pulliam, baby brother Jim and sisters Irma, Marie, Sue and Marlyn.
