William "Bill" Ray Smith, 70 years, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri passed away on Monday, February 9, 2016 at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
He was born on January 19, 1945 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Harold and Betty (Whited) Smith. Bill graduated from the University of Missouri in Rolla, Missouri. He was an Aerospace Mechanical Engineer, working at McDonnell Aircraft in Culver City, California. He proudly served our country in United States Army.
Bill is survived by his brother, Harold Smith and wife, Virginia of Grove, Oklahoma; a sister, Verlene Atwell of Carl Junction; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Bill.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri. Reverend Bobby Cooper will officiate.
