Noline Davenport

Noline M. Davenport, 79, Carthage, passed away February 20, 2016 at her home after lengthy illness. Noline Marie Goddard was born January 19, 1937 in Neosho, MO, a daughter of the late Kenneth Goddard and Fern (Boatwright) Williams Goddard. She attended the Neosho Public School System graduation from Neosho High School, Class of 1955. She married Larry Davenport on December 25, 1954; he survives. Noline and her husband, Larry, had several opportunities to travel and live in many states due to her husband serving in the U. S. Air Force. They moved to Carthage in 1972, where she was active in PTA and Sunday School at the First Christian Church, Carthage. She was also active with the McCune-Brooks Hospital Auxiliary serving as President for two years and chairperson for the Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop for four years. In 1998 she was award the distinction of Auxilian of the Year. As a member of the First Christian Church, she was a member of the Missionary Guild until the year 2000. At that time her health began to decline and she became homebound. She always considered herself fortunate to have a husband, children and grandchildren to help care for her.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Cassandra “Cassy” Nuse, Carthage and a son, Steven Davenport, Carthage; a sister, Carol Owens, Chesterfield, MO and a brother, John Boatwright, Webb City, MO; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. Noline was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Cristy Lynn Peddy; two brothers, Kent Goddard and James Goddard.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 23 at the Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 24 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Minister David Cook, First Christian Church, Carthage, will officiate. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
