Bob D. Oglesby, age 85, of Carl Junction, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.
Bob was born October 25, 1930 to the late Elbert Oglesby and Viola White Oglesby in Cushing, Oklahoma and grew up in Blanchard, Oklahoma. Bob served our country in the U.S. Air Force and later attended college at Oklahoma A&M. After moving to Joplin he worked for Tri-State Motor Transit Company, retiring as Vice President of Facilities after 34 years of service. Bob cherished many things including his family, faith and education.
On March 21, 1959, Bob married Virginia Grieser in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2008.
Surviving Bob are his sons, Dean Oglesby and wife, Martha of Owasso, Oklahoma and Gary Oglesby and wife, Lisa of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter in-law, Theresa Oglesby of Battlefield, Missouri; grandchildren, Nick and wife, Natalie, Britt, Ryan and Devyn; special dear friend, Doris Smith of Joplin; brothers, Jim Oglesby and wife, Mary of Joplin, Larry Oglesby and wife, Teddy of Galena, Kansas, Jerry Oglesby and wife, Judy of Corinth, Texas; sisters, Betty Adams and husband, Lucien of Bethany, Oklahoma and Fannie Jo Buller and husband, Landry of Kountze, Texas; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Preceding Bob in death are his parents, step mother, Sylvia Oglesby; son, Phillip Oglesby and a sister, Rosie Bridwell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Bob's church, Royal Heights United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Royal Heights United Methodist Church in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
