Gay Roper

Gay Nell Roper, age 70, of Neosho, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at her home after a 5 year battle with cancer.

Gay was born August 28, 1945 in Goodman, Missouri, daughter of the late Fred and Velma Irene Branstetter. She graduated from Goodman High School in 1963 as her class Valedictorian, and then attended Draughn Business College in Kansas City before returning to Goodman. She was a stay at home mom, while also being very helpful with her husband’s business, Roper’s Service in Neosho. She loved to crochet and do cross-stitch, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Neosho. 

In addition to her parents, Gay was preceded in death by a son, Chris Roper. Survivors include her husband, Roy Roper, whom she married December 12, 1963 in Goodman; daughter, Amy Tanner and husband Danny of Granby, son, Daniel Roper and wife Jana of Racine, daughter-in-law, Dawn Roper Newlan of Neosho; brother, Mike Branstetter of Neosho; grandchildren, Tara Birch, Stephanie Redden, Brooke and Dawson Tanner, Sierra and Mariah Roper, and Kelly Dannels; great-grandson, Xavier Birch.
