James Deitz

James A. Deitz, 80, Carthage, MO, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 3, 2016 at his home after a lengthy battle with ALS. James Allen Deitz was born July 4, 1935 in Carthage, MO to the late James Albert Deitz and Jesse Louise Marsden. He graduated from Carthage Senior High School, Class of 1954. James married Shirley H. Wardlow on May 6, 1956 in Carthage, MO; she preceded him in death on December 18, 2012. He was a member of the Missouri National Guard for 10 years. James owned and operated Deitz Electronics for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage. James was a very strong Christian although, his will to live was weakened by the death of his loving wife Shirley. He loved flying and even restored and owned his own 1947 Luscombe 8A with his twin brother Robert.

Survivors include one son; Matthew Allen Deitz, New Orleans, LA, one daughter; Amy Lynn Smith, Joplin, MO, and two brothers; his twin Robert Allen Deitz (wife Barbara), Carthage, MO, and Gerold Lynn Deitz (wife Barbara), Tulsa, OK, sister-in-law; Flora Hardesty, Lake Charles, LA. Jim also had many nieces and nephews that loved him very much.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two sisters, Bette Heisten and Doris Phelps.

Visitation will be held 9:00-10:00 am, Monday, February 8, 2016 at Fairview Christian Church, Carthage. Funeral service will follow at 10:00 am. Minister Boyce Mouton will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Fullerton Cemetery, Carthage. Many Thanks to Avalon Hospice for their wonderful care and comfort.
