Maxine Clevenger

Maxine Clevenger, age 96, formerly of Carthage, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield on Sunday February 28, 2016. 

She was born on April 30, 1919 in Sarcoxie the daughter of J.B. “Bert” Southern and Francis “Frankie” Adams. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Carthage. She was a homemaker. 

She married Harley L. Clevenger on January 19, 1938 in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2000. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Clevenger, Wichita, Kansas, Danny Clevenger of Republic and one daughter Carolyn Armstrong of Nixa, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter on March 24, 2013 and a twin brother, Glen Dean Southern on July 8, 2000. 

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2 at Park Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday March 1, 2016 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.ulmerfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
