Ricky Joe Speak 54 of Lamar, MO passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, He was born August 13, 1961 in Kansas City, MO to Wayburn Speak and Mary Ann Barger McCarthy. He moved to Lamar in the mid 1970’s from Kansas City, Mo.
Ricky was friendly, had a big heart and he loved animals and kids. He was a handyman and liked to help others. From the time he was just a young boy he was helping out his neighbors by shoveling snow or lending a helping hand wherever saw a need. Ricky was an auto mechanic and liked to tinker with cars and tackling repair projects. Ricky always enjoyed a good road trip and enjoyed fishing whenever he got the chance. He was baptized at a young age in the Lutheran Church.
Ricky and his wife Tammy were married April 22, 2012 in Lamar, MO.
He is survived by his wife, his mother; Mary Ann McCarthy and husband David, of Lamar, MO, sons; Derek Reed, Kansas City, MO, Nathan Reed (Michelle), Independence, MO, a daughter Sharla Addis (Jesse) Oswego, KS, grandchildren; Victoria, Charlie, Audra, Avery, Jackson and Jade, and his sister Brenda Lee Cline. He is also survived by his aunts; Donna Waggerman and Wilma Fellers, Independence, MO, and Alice Sue Hill, Blue Springs, MO, and his uncle Joe Barger, of Liberal, MO.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father and brother.
