Trey McCumber

Charles “Trey” Edward McCumber III age 29, of Galena, Ks passed away Monday February 22, 2016 at the Freeman West Hospital Joplin, Mo. 

He was born on May 5, 1986 in Joplin, Mo. the son of Charles and Marianne “Purvis” McCumber. He was a veteran serving his country during the Iraq War with the United States Marines. He married Krystina Brewer on August 17, 2013 at Joplin, Mo. Trey was employed with SEK Interlocal as a Special Education Para for the Galena USD 499 School District. He was a true hero with a kind heart who was always putting others first. He loved to hunt, fish, and teaching and coaching children especially his two boys Landon and Parker. He was a member of the Riverton Friends Church in Riverton, Ks. 

Trey was preceded in death by his baby Leighton McCumber, and grandparents; Chuck and Bonnie McCumber and Jim Purvis. Survivors include his wife Krystina of the home, two sons: Landon and Parker of the home; his parents Charles and Marianne of Galena, Ks; a brother Cory McCumber and wife Carlissa of Riverton, Ks., a sister Brittany Jordan and husband Chance of Quapaw, Ok., grandmother Ann Purvis, father in-law Chris Brewer, mother in-law Tina Leighton and step mother in-law Wilma Gooden, two brother in-laws Eric Pritchard and their children and Josh McArthur, and a sister in-law Raven Brewer.
 
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday February 28, 2016 at the Riverton Friends Church Riverton, K. Visitation will immediately follow the service. The family suggests contributions to the National Center for PTSD.
