Gladys Carlin

Gladys Marie Carlin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went to be with her LORD, Tuesday, February 23rd at the age of 87. 

Gladys Marie Carlin was born to Randolph and Nellie McGarrah on July 26, 1928 in Goodman, Missouri. She committed her life to following Christ while attending a tent revival meeting as a teenage girl. Her life was marked by an unwavering faith in God and a love and compassion for others. Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of family and friends. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Rocky Comfort, Missouri. 

On November 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to George Daniel Carlin in Columbus, Kansas. They lived on a farm outside of Rocky Comfort for 55 years. Gladys was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. Over the years, she had many hobbies: she enjoyed making ceramics in her kiln, raising and selling chow puppies, collecting and selling antiques, but her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends. In 2005, she moved to Nixa, Missouri with her husband to be closer to their son. George and Gladys enjoyed 69 years of marriage and they had a special love for each other and were always by each other’s side. 

She is survived by her husband, George Carlin of Nixa, Missouri; her only son, Jerry Carlin, who is the pastor of First Evangelical Free Church and his wife, Donna of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Justin Carlin and his wife, Lurin of Fuquay Varina, NC; Caleb Carlin and his wife, Sara of Nixa, Missouri and Charissa Fuhr and her husband, Brandon of Springfield, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Tenley Carlin, Taelyn Carlin, Landry Carlin, Blakely Fuhr and Jordan Carlin; one brother, Virgil McGarrah and his wife, Barbara of Joplin and one sister in law, Kathleen McGarrah of Stella. Gladys was preceded in death by three brothers, Alva, Elmer and Joe McGarrah and two sisters, Hazel Lawson and Martha Plumlee.

THE VISITATION WILL BE HELD PRIOR TO THE SERVICE FROM 10:00 TO 11:00 AM
Monday February 29, 2016 at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church, Rocky Comfort, MO.
