Gerrie Rogers

Geraldine (Gerrie) Rogers, 80, Joplin, MO, went to be with the lord on February 10, 2021 after battling a long illness.

Geraldine Martin was born April 1, 1940 in Mt Olive, MO the daughter of Charlie Evertt and Ama Julia (Ellison) Martin. Gerrie was a 1958 Fair Grove High School graduate. She worked as a bus driver for OATS INC, retiring in 2007 after 31 years. 

Gerrie was a beautiful and adventurous spirit and somewhat of a daredevil. She loved trying new things. Even though she was terrified of water, she tried swimming and even jet skiing. She also enjoyed paragliding, ziplining, and for her 65th birthday she went sky diving. She loved to travel, enjoyed visiting with friends and family, and she also enjoyed playing Farkle with her friends.






 

Most of all, she was an amazing mother and grandmother who undeniably will live on through our hearts and memories. Gerrie had a great since of humor and her smile will be missed by many.

Geraldine Martin married Floyd Baker May 25, 1958 and from that union three daughters Susan, Peggy and Tina were born. Geraldine later married Jimmie Rogers and that union brought to her two stepdaughters, Dianna and Annetta.

Survivors include five daughters, Susan Savage and husband Keith, Oronogo, MO, Peggy Hall, Fair Grove, MO and Tina Oehme and husband Mike, Pittsburg, KS; Dianna and husband David Howard, Seneca Mo, Annetta and husband Ricky Fritchey, Wyandotte, OK one sister, Marthanna Owens, Fair Grove, MO, one sister-in-law Margret Ann Golden, Seneca; 11 grandchildren, Amber Lassiter, Aaron Savage, Ashley Savage, Darby Brake and husband Tim, Dylan hall and wife Sara, Carson Hall, Micah Oehme, Mindy Rector and husband Mark, Matthew Howard and wife Katey, Shaun Fritchey and wife Kelly and Steven Fritchey and wife Amy; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother and husband Jimmie Rogers.


The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Hottel Springs Church of Christ. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm, with Bob Hampton officiating. Gerrie’s family then will take her to her final resting place in the Thompson Grove Cemetery for a short committal service.
